Re: Bounce Back Loan Scheme
As a small business owner based in your constituency, I am writing to ask you to support Tide’s urgent request for HM Treasury and the Bank of England to allow direct funding for Bounce Back Loans via the British Business Bank.
My business, along with thousands of others, urgently needs a Bounce Back Loan. I hold a business account with Tide, a British fintech with over 200,000 members. Tide gained accreditation to offer Bounce Back Loans in May and I, along with over 70,000 other small business owners, registered my interest in a loan.
Last week, because of the design of the Scheme, Tide had to pause lending. Oliver Prill, the CEO of Tide, explains why in full in this letter to members:
The Chancellor promised that Bounce Back Loans would be available quickly to all eligible businesses. For many small businesses not served by the big high street banks, this has not been true. Tide has the technology and staff to start lending again as soon as they have the capital. With access to direct funding from the Government, this will be possible.
Please will you write to the Chancellor to give your support for the changes Tide is requesting to the Bounce Back Loan Scheme? With the changes, Tide will be able to offer loans to thousands of small businesses like mine, helping us rebuild both our livelihoods and the UK economy.
