Got a data cap on your fixed broadband? Companies agree to scrap caps during coronavirus

All major UK broadband providers have agreed to remove data allowance caps on all fixed broadband services.

The Government announced this initiative was effective from 29 March 2020 and hasn’t yet stated an end date.

Although this scheme comes under the umbrella of measures to support vulnerable people, everyone who currently has fixed broadband with a data allowance cap is eligible if your service is provided by:

  • BT/EE
  • Gigaclear
  • Hyperoptic
  • KCOM
  • O2
  • Openreach
  • Sky
  • TalkTalk
  • Three
  • Virgin Media
  • Vodafone

To get the data cap removed, you don’t need to do anything. The change was automatically applied from 29 March 2020.
