Meet Amrita, our Fincrime Operations Analyst
The Financial Crime team works to protect Tide’s members from criminals, safeguarding the infrastructure and integrity of the Tide network, and working collaboratively with other organisations to prevent financial crime across the industry. We’d love for you to meet the people behind the Financial Crime team – here’s Amrita.
👋Hey Amrita! Introduce yourself
I’m Amrita, a Financial Crime Operations Analyst at Tide. We look after the daily running of FinCrime activity – we’re basically the coggs which make up the FinCrime engine!
I’m originally from Canada and studied Political Science at the University of Toronto. After finishing my degree, I moved to London to live with my big sister, who had already taken the leap and moved to the UK.
How did you cross paths with Tide?
Whilst studying for my masters in American Politics, my friend, Loz (who is now an Account Manager here at Tide) told me about this wonderful fintech startup. I joined as a Member Support agent and after a year of learning almost everything about how Tide works, I joined the FinCrime team!
What’s the most interesting challenge you’ve come across since joining Tide?
We’ve grown really quickly as a business and the dynamics are constantly changing, which has been challenging as the team structures have changed. I’m happy to say it’s never boring and I’m constantly learning new things!
What’s your favourite Tide memory?
Having been at Tide for almost two years, it’s hard to pick just one, but I’d have to say my favourite Tide memory is the Sports Day we hosted! At Tide I’ve made some great friends and it was really fun to get to play different games with everyone and to see their silly and fun side come out!
What are you looking forward to most this year?
We’re growing so fast as a company and there’s constant change, so I’m just really excited to see what Tide will look like in the coming months. Personally, I’m looking forward to a big trip to Canada to see my family, as I haven’t been home for a while and I miss the snow!
Favourite desk snack?
Luckily we get an array of free snacks and my favourite has to be Nature Valley Nut Butter cups. They’re to die for!
You’re a long standing member of our #cultureclub here at Tide – tell us about an event you’re most proud of
There are quite a few events that I’m proud of, but the one that stands out the most has to be the Summer party! The weather was lovely and we had different food and drink stalls for everyone to enjoy. It was at a time when we began rapidly growing in size so it was a nice event to get to know all the new Tideans!
When you’re not at Tide, what’s your favourite thing to do?
When I’m not at Tide, I love to take it easy and stay in watching movies with my London family!
