Meet Ester, our Talent Administrator
Our People team is responsible for making sure every Tidean comes to work happy and engaged, and leaves feeling the same at the end of the day! We’d love for you to get to know them too – so here’s Ester, our Talent Administrator.
👋 Hey Ester! Introduce yourself in a sentence.
¡Hola! I’m originally from Andalusia, southern Spain, and have been living in London for the past 10 years.
What’s your background?
I’m a Philologist, specialised in the English language, its origin, history and literature 📚. I moved to London to complete my studies and fell in love with this city, so this is where the adventure began!
I’ve moved from translating and copywriting, life modelling and voice-acting, to working in early-years education. For several years I also worked in a fine arts school where I developed an even bigger passion for art.
I have now been working in tech-start ups for the last five years, mainly in the operations side of the business.
What made you want to join Tide?
Having worked at several tech-start ups, I developed a passion for FinTech (it’s so hot right now! 🔥) and I heard amazing things about Tide through a friend. The main attraction was Tide’s mission: an organisation which is passionate about helping individuals fulfil their dreams of starting a business.
Typical working day:
What’s that? There’s not a typical working day at Tide! My role involves admin tasks, as well as making sure that all our Tideans, new and old, are happy.
My daily tasks always vary; for instance last Monday we had 10 newbies joining the team. The focus on that day was to make sure they had the best first day. On another day, I could be helping the talent team and, as part of the Culture Club, I could be organising events, workshops and arranging exciting activities for our Tideans to look forward to!
What’s your favourite thing about working at Tide?
I love the people and the fact that there’s a mission behind what we do. Coming to work every day and knowing that we’re all helping others achieve their business ambitions is the best feeling.
What’s your favourite thing about Tide’s culture?
Everyone is so open and we love to celebrate each other! I’ve never worked in a place with so many different people from all kinds of backgrounds (and parts of the world). I’ve only been at Tide for 3 months but in that time we’ve celebrated Easter, EID, Anzac day and many ‘Welcome Tideans’ morning teas ☕. We’ve just finished an amazing Wellness Week and we’re currently celebrating #PrideAtTide 🏳️🌈
What’s the most interesting challenge you’ve came across since you joined Tide?
We’re rolling out an amazing benefits package at the moment. This was one of the projects I was involved in pretty much since day one. I worked very closely with our VP of People & Culture to develop the package. This was a very important project for me because I wanted to ensure I arranged the best benefits for our team.
What are you most excited about this year at Tide?
Seeing the company grow. Fast!
What’s your hidden talent?
I’ve failed twice at my Arabic language course. Is that a talent? Probably not!
When you’re not at Tide, what’s your favourite thing to do?
Eat, travel the world, I do yoga four times a week 🙏, attending as many art shows and exhibitions as I can, and spending time in my beloved Brixton with my London family!
