Meet Klaudia, from our Financial Crime team
The Financial Crime team works to protect Tide’s members from criminals and ensure that criminals don’t use Tide! We’d love for you to meet the people behind the Financial Crime team – here’s Klaudia.
👋 Hey Klaudia Introduce yourself in a sentence.
Hey, I’m Klaudia! I’m a Financial Crime Analyst, and my main responsibility is to protect Tide and our members from criminals.
How did you cross paths with Tide?
After I graduated I was super keen to work in a FinTech startup, as I’ve heard a lot about great working culture. I started researching all trending startups in London, and that’s how I came across Tide. I saw the Financial Crime Analyst role being advertised, which I thought sounded really cool – it kind of reminded me of my childhood dream of being a detective🕵️♀️
I then read the information available on Tide’s website, and I really liked our mission and employee values. Before I applied, I actually read our ‘Meet the Team’ blog posts and I thought that it would be great to work among such passionate people!
What’s your typical working day?
I usually get to the office quarter to 9 am and have a coffee whilst reading through Slack, my emails and Financial Crime related articles.
First part of my daily tasks involves investigations, taking appropriate action where necessary after conducting them, writing reports to law enforcement and liaising with other financial institutions. I also work with data and analyse it to help the Financial Crime Team.
I usually try to spend half of my day on investigations and the other half on data, but as every Tidean says no every day is the same here!
What do you like most about working at Tide?
I absolutely love the start-up culture. It’s like this perfect balance between a relaxed, yet very fast-paced environment where everyone is working extremely hard. You can never be bored at Tide! Also, breakfast choices and proper barista coffee machine are the reason why I wake up in the morning ☕❤️
What is your favourite Tide feature?
It sounds basic, but I really like that pending transactions are deducted immediately from my visible balance, which prevents me from getting carried away with my spendings.
Also, big thumbs up for how secure the Tide app is. I love the login process to access Tide on the web!
What are you most excited about this year?
I have few trips lined up for the summer – I’m finally taking my best friends from university to show them my hometown in Poland and I’m going to Sziget Festival in Budapest. I am also planning a long-haul trip either to Thailand or the Philippines later on this year, but I am still deciding on this one.
On top of that, I’m starting a data science focused course in Python programming this autumn which will eventually lead to building my first AI model! (If everything goes well..)
As for Tide, I am super excited to see how much we will grow and where we will be in the next few months. Honestly, so much has changed since I joined last summer!
Ideal celebrity dinner party guest?
Louis Theroux, Benedict Cumberbatch, Idris Elba, Gordon Ramsay and The Killers who would then play a live concert for us.
What’s your hidden talent?
Spending money I don’t have, on things I don’t need. 😀
For real hmm.. Well, I wouldn’t say it’s a talent, but I really enjoy doing fashion illustrations. I am currently in the process of creating a series of posters with my designs made from various different materials such as random newspapers I find on the tube, textile strings, staples and essentially anything that looks interesting.
When you’re not at Tide, what’s your favourite thing to do?
Hanging around East London with my best mates and exploring all the cool places there! When I have a spare minute, I read a lot of documentary books and fictional novels – mainly relating to all sorts of crime. I am currently reading a super interesting one titled: “Moneyland: Why Thieves And Crooks Now Rule The World And How To Take It Back” (quite a long title, I know). I also love roller skating and winter sports.
