Meet Rosanna, from our Product team
Our Product team is responsible for building the Tide app – working hand in hand with our ever growing Tech team, they’re ensuring we’re bringing our members the best possible app. We’d love for you to meet the people that make the Product team – here’s Rosanna.
👋 Hey Rosanna! Introduce yourself in a sentence.
Hello everyone I am Rosanna and I am in the Product team here at Tide.
What’s your background?
Before Tide I worked in banking, primarily within strategy and innovation. I was lucky enough to work across multiple sectors, and so was able to form a solid understanding of the vast differences in financial needs between your retail and corporate client or your SME and a private client. Whilst there, I worked on number projects to design customer centric solutions to end user problems, whether that be visualising credit card usage within your mobile banking app or tracking which invoices have been paid and which were overdue.
Prior to joining the workforce I studied a Biomedical Science at university. Spending my days trying to avoid spilling urine samples and inflicting pain on my classmates to understand the body’s neurological response.
How did you cross paths with Tide?
Whilst in banking I saw first hand how banks neglect the complex and varied banking needs of SMEs, typically repackaging either their retail or corporate offering and selling it as a “business banking” solution. This, paired with my frustration in length of time to get anything to the end customer in a large corporate, led me to seek out, and then find Tide.
I loved how passionate Tide was about improving the lives of small business owners, and really believed in the mission and problem they were trying to solve. That was almost 2 years ago now and I haven’t looked back since.
What’s your typical working day?
As you have already heard from my colleagues in Product “no one day is the same”, however, they all pretty much start the same. I get in, grab a coffee and join my daily stand-up with the team. We usually follow this by refining some future work.
Then, depending on where I am in the lifecycle of a project, I could be:
- Conducting user research – to understand what we should be building and how
- Working with our design team to bring new features to life
- Meeting with suppliers and partners who are helping us to deliver a piece of functionality
- Working with marketing to prepare new features for launch
- Working with my team of developers to refine “user stories” and scope out new functionality
Or, most importantly, attempting to speak broken spanish to two of our developers whilst planning mine and Sasha’s groundbreaking new podcast “Never before seen science” or, as they say in espanol, ”Ciencia nunca antes vista”.
What’s your favourite Tide feature?
Tricky question! Right now I would probably say the speed with which members are able to open an account with Tide. I think this was, and still is, a complete game changer when it comes to business banking.
If you had to pick one thing – what’s the best thing about working at Tide?
Hands down the people. It makes such a difference coming in to work every morning and being surrounded by bright, motivated and like-minded people who really believe in what we are building.
What are you most looking forward to at Tide this year?
Now that we’ve got our core product established we are focusing more on building the features that sit at the heart of Tide’s ethos of saving small businesses time and money. I am really excited to speak to more of our members, understand their needs, and build awesome tools that really impact their day to day for the better.
What’s your hidden talent?
I have an amazing sense of smell.. which can often be a a bad thing…
When you’re not at Tide, what’s your favourite thing to do?
I love to travel. I try and do two holidays a year where I travel to far off lands that I have yet to discover. And just generally hanging out with friends, and…EATING, ALWAYS EATING.
