New feature: Virtual office address

We’re excited to tell you about another handy service we’re adding to the Tide platform.

New Tide members who register their company with us can now opt for a ‘virtual office address’.

What is a virtual office address?

Not come across this service before? With our virtual office address option, you get a central London address to use as your registered address. The post that arrives there for you is scanned and sent to you by email. 🐌✉ ⏩ ⚡📩

Here’s why a virtual office address can be a sensible choice for new businesses:

Keep your home address private 🏠

Thinking of using your home address as your registered address? Many new businesses do. But it means your address is publicly available – everyone can see it online. See for yourself at the Companies House website:
Companies House | Get information about a company

By using a virtual address, your home address stays private.

Your premises can change, your address stays the same 📫

If your home is your registered address and you move, you have to update Companies House and anyone else who needs to know.

The same applies if your registered address is your business premises. Every time your business moves, you’ve got the admin palaver of updating everyone with the new details.

With a virtual office address, no matter how often you move, your registered address stays the same.

Get your mail, no matter where you are 🌴

Planning on working as a digital nomad? While much of your mail comes in as email these days, you still need a postal address if only for official Companies House and HMRC correspondence. If you list your home as your registered office address, you won’t see an important tax demand letter if you’re in a hammock in Honolulu.

With a virtual office address, you’ll get your mail scanned and emailed to you so you can stay on top of your correspondence wherever you are.

What’s included

The virtual office address service is available only to new Tide members who register their company with us.

You can choose between a monthly and yearly billing option. You will be billed for your initial term once your company has been incorporated by Companies House and your Tide account is approved.

The plan includes:

  • Registered office address:
    86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE
  • Correspondence address for director:
    86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE
  • Same day mail scanning and email forwarding:
    • Official mail will be scanned and emailed to you on the same day it’s received
    • Unofficial mail (for example, advertising) will be returned to the sender

The plan doesn’t  include collecting or forwarding mail, except cheques which are forwarded to you by post.

What’s not allowed

You must not use the virtual office address service for these purposes:

  • As a trading address
  • Registering or managing a vehicle, including with the DVLA
  • Receiving any unlawful, harassing, libellous, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene or otherwise objectionable material
  • WayBills or export documentation, or other official customs declarations
  • For multiple company names and/or trading names.
You can’t add more than one company/trading name to your subscription, unless specifically agreed with us.
  • As your businesses address on Google services, such as Google Maps.
Google My Business guidelines state that virtual offices are not considered to be service-area businesses. For Google, a business address must be staffed during business hours.
