Staff Backend Engineer – Python

About You 

You are enthusiastic about using data technology to solve business problems. After joining you will work in a fast paced environment, writing services that enable us to integrate with external data sources and to productionize machine learning models. You have an agile mindset, aiming to deliver business value in increments. Working alongside other data engineers, data scientists and POs in order to quickly productionize high quality software applications.

Occasional traveling to our offices in Sofia and/or London is expected post-pandemic.

Some of the things you’ll be doing: 

  • Developing Python code to facilitate the integration of additional data sources and operationalization of machine learning models 
  • Collaborating in cross-functional software/architecture design sessions to find the best data sessions for the problems that we are facing 
  • Participating in an agile development team that delivers value iteratively
  • Building both batch and real time services
  • Challenging your thinking and the thinking of your team on how we can deliver value in a leaner fashion

You’ll be a great fit if: 

  • You have extensive development experience in Python, including development of microservices using e.g. Flask, Django, etc.
  • You have experience in building data solutions, both batch processes and streaming applications
  • You are familiar with event-driven designs, specifically you have worked with Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, etc. before
  • You have experience working in an agile team, dedicated to generating value in an iterative fashion
  • You have high development standards, especially for code quality, code reviews, unit testing, continuous integration and deployment
  • You have experience working with machine learning models before and know about the challenges faced when putting these into production
  • Business-level of English and good communication skills
  • Experience with Git and Docker

A note on the future of work at Tide:

Tide’s offices are beginning to open for Tideans to return on a voluntary basis. Timelines for reopening will be unique for each region and will be based on region-specific guidelines. The health and well-being of Tideans and candidates is our primary concern, therefore, for the foreseeable future, we have transitioned all interviews and onboarding to be conducted via Zoom.

Once offices are fully open, Tideans will be able to choose to work from the office or remotely, with the requirement that they visit the office or participate in face-to-face team activities several times per month.
