Get paid faster with Tide's in-person payment solutions

Learn how you and your trusted Team Members can quickly and securely take card payments.

Tide Card Reader

The Tide Card Reader works exclusively with Tide business accounts, letting you or your team members collect card payments for your products and services.

Order your card reader

You can order a Tide Card Reader through your app by going to the 'Payments' tab and tapping 'Get Paid' > 'Card Reader Payments'.

You'll be able to choose which card reader you'd like.

The Tide Card Reader Plus works similarly to the standard Tide Card Reader, but offers a larger interface with printer availability and lifetime free 4G connectivity.

Set up your card reader

  1. Power on your device by holding down the button on the righthand side. Then connect the charging cable and charge it for 4 hours.

  2. Select your language on the welcome screen.

  3. Link your device to your store by selecting your store on the 'Confirm Store' screen. If the store name shown isn't yours, use the 'Edit' button to change it.

  4. Get connected with 4G automatically. For Wi-Fi, tap 'Settings' > 'Network' > enter your passcode > join your network.

Start taking card payments

On your card reader, press 'Payment' > enter the price > 'Continue'. Your customer can now hold their card against the machine, and the payment will land in your Tide account within 3 business days.

Share a receipt

To share a receipt, just ask your customer to scan the QR code on the card reader once their payment has gone through.

Make a refund

You can provide refunds through your Tide app. Tap 'Get Paid' > 'Card Reader' > select the payment > 'Refund This Payment'.

Tap to Pay on iPhone

Take contactless card payments from your customers with just your iPhone.

Add Tap to Pay to your Tide account

You can add Tap to Pay straight through your Tide app.

Tap 'Payments' > 'Get Paid' > 'Tap to Pay on iPhone' > accept the T&Cs > 'Enable Tap to Pay on iPhone' > link your Apple ID as prompted. Eligibility may be restricted, and you must be on the latest OS.

Start taking card payments

In your app, go to the 'Payments tab' and tap 'Get Paid' > 'Tap to Pay on iPhone' > Enter the amount and description > 'Take a Payment'.

Your customer can now hold their card near on top of your iPhone until you see 'Done'.

Share a receipt

When a payment is successful, you'll see a 'share receipt' icon in the app. Tap it to share by text message, email, Instagram or WhatsApp - or tap 'Copy Link' to paste it anywhere else.

Make a refund

In your app, go to 'Payments' > 'Get Paid' > 'Tap to Pay on iPhone' > 'Manage' > select the transaction > 'Request Customer Refund'.

This will be processed in 5-7 business days.
