How to set up and use your Tide Nano Card Reader

Your Tide Nano Card Reader (NYC1) is a screenless card reader.

Connect your Nano Card Reader to your app via Bluetooth, and then use your Tide app to create payment requests and collect them through your reader.

Pair your card reader

Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is turned on and your reader is powered on.

  1. Open your Tide app and go to Pay > Get paid > Receive a card reader payment

  2. Enter any amount and tap Charge > Pair a Nano Reader

  3. Your app will scan for nearby readers, just select your reader's serial number when it appears on-screen

  4. Double-press the side button on your reader when the light flashes blue to connect

Taking your first payment after set up

  1. Turn your reader on and make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone

  2. Your app will already be connected from set up, so just ask your customer to tap, insert, or swipe their card

  3. Your customer might need to enter their PIN, and the payment will be completed

Taking further payments

  1. Open your Tide app, and tap Pay > Get paid > Receive a card reader payment or Pay > Card reader sales > Take a payment

  2. Enter the amount, add a description if you'd like, and tap Charge

  3. Select your paired device from the list of connected devices

  4. Ask your customer to tap, insert, or swipe their card

  5. Your customer might need to enter their PIN, and the payment will be completed

Create your Tide App Catalogue

Tide's App Catalogue  lets you create a product catalogue on your mobile device - a simple, ready-to-use menu for taking payments.

Upload images of your products and services, then add prices, stock levels (optional) and a delivery fee (optional).

  1. Go to the Sell section of your Tide app and tap Catalogue

  2. Add your products and prices by tapping Create item

  3. Edit these any time you need

  1. Open your Tide app and tap Till Mode in the top right-hand corner

  2. Choose how you'd like to be paid, and make sure your Nano device is selected

  3. Tap Items and select the product or service, along with the number of items being purchased

  4. Tap the Charge button and present the Nano device to the customer to take payment
