When I first began experimenting in the kitchen during lockdown, I had no idea it would grow into something that touches so many hearts. “Mistaya was born out of a simple wish to create sweets that bring joy while being kind to people, animals, and the planet,” shares Sahil Agnihotri, co-founder of Mistaya. Alongside Archita Anand, he transformed small kitchen experiments into a mindful indulgence that celebrates both tradition and compassion.
“For us, Mistaya isn’t just about desserts,” Sahil adds. “It’s about proving that Indian mithai can taste just as rich, joyful, and festive without a drop of dairy.” What began as a lockdown passion project soon became a full-fledged vegan bakery rooted in purpose and care.
A Menu That Surprises and Delights
From motichoor laddoos, gujiyas, and kaju katli to decadent vegan cakes, cupcakes, and festive hampers, Mistaya’s menu is full of surprises. Each creation is made from natural ingredients, minimal refined sugar, and absolutely no dairy, offering the same nostalgic sweetness with a healthier, kinder twist.
“Our biggest joy is watching people’s reactions when they realise our sweets are completely plant-based,” shares Archita with a smile. “It’s always heartwarming to see that indulgence can be guilt-free and full of compassion.”
The Heart Behind Mistaya
For Sahil and Archita, Mistaya is more than a brand; it is a shared dream built on love, experimentation, and purpose. Every order they prepare carries a piece of their journey, from late-night trials in their home kitchen to carefully curated festive hampers today.
“What keeps us going is knowing that our creations are part of people’s celebrations like birthdays, weddings, and Diwali tables,” says Sahil. “Each box we send out carries a little kindness and a lot of love.”
How Tide Supports Mistaya’s Growth
Running a plant-based business comes with its share of challenges, from managing premium ingredients to keeping track of daily operations. “That’s where Tide has been a great help,” says Sahil. “It simplifies transactions, tracks expenses clearly, and allows us to focus more on creating rather than worrying about admin work.”
Staying True While Growing
Mistaya’s journey has been one of learning and balance. Sourcing high-quality vegan ingredients and ensuring sustainability in packaging requires constant effort. Educating people that vegan sweets can taste just as indulgent as traditional ones has also been a key part of their mission.
“Our approach has always been simple, stay authentic, consistent, and patient,” says Archita. “Niche markets take time to build, but when your work reflects honesty and heart, people connect with it.”
