Post Office deposits made on weekdays are usually processed within a few minutes. Deposits made late in the day, on a weekend or Bank Holiday, can arrive in your account on the next business day.
Amounts you can deposit
You can’t deposit more than:
£25,000 per single deposit
£25,000 per month
£300,000 per year into your Tide account.
You can make multiple deposits, but the combined amount can’t be above any of the listed limits. The Post Office have their own limits, and above amounts may vary from branch to branch.
Post Office fees
The fee is:
£2.50 for deposits of up to £500
0.99% (of the total) for deposits over £500, if you're on a Lite plan
0.5% (of the total) for deposits over £500, if you're on another Tide plan
All cash deposit fees are deducted automatically, at the time of processing. The amount you’ll receive in your account is your deposit, minus the fee.
Processing your PayPoint deposit
PayPoint deposits made on weekdays are usually processed within 10 minutes. Deposits made late in the day, on a weekend or Bank Holiday, can arrive in your account on the next business day.
Amounts you can deposit
The minimum amount you can deposit at a PayPoint is £10, and the maximum is £500 per day.

All cash deposit fees are deducted automatically, at the time of processing. The amount you’ll receive in your account is your deposit, minus the fee.
Deposit your cheques
Use your Tide app to deposit your cheques, tap:
Get paid > Deposit cash and cheques > Deposit cheques. If this is your first deposit, read and agree to the Terms & Conditions
Enter the amount and reference > tap Next
Hold your camera horizontally over the cheque, while the app captures the details
Review photo > Make sure that all details within the black-and-white image of your cheque are clearly visible (ie. the account number, sort code, signature, payee name, amount, and date). If any details are unclear, please retake the cheque images
Confirm that everything is correct > Submit the cheque deposit
Just a heads up – you can only deposit your cheques if your sort code is 04-06-05.
Taking your your cheque picture
When depositing your cheque, you’ll need to take two clear images of it – one of the front, and one of the back. Make sure:
There are no other documents, objects or shadows around the cheque
It lays flat on a dark, plain surface – preferably, it shouldn’t be on a wooden surface
You take the picture under good but not too bright light;
All 4 corners of the cheque are visible in the frame

❌ We can't process paper cheques, travellers cheques, bank giro credits, electronic vouchers, cheques deposited at the post office, or other non-standard cheques.
* If you're a Sole Trader, the cheque must be issued in your personal name. Cheques issued in your trading name won’t be accepted, unless you’ve verified that name. To do so, in your app, tap the Profile icon in the top-right > Profile & Settings > Business Details > Trading Name.

Processing your cheque deposit
Your cheque will normally clear in 2 business days. On the back of the cheque itself, make a note of the date you deposited it. Keep the paper cheque for your records.
If you’ve enabled your in-app notifications, you’ll see a message to confirm the cheque payment. It will show as Cheque on your transactions timeline, and in your monthly statement.
Amounts you can deposit
You can deposit:
Up to 5 cheques per day
A maximum of £500 per cheque
A daily total limit of £2,500
These limits are subject to change.
Cheque deposit fees
Our cheque deposit fee is the same, no matter if you're on a Lite or a Paid Plan. We charge 70p to deposit a cheque, plus the standard transaction fee of 20p. The total charge will be 90p.*
If you're on a Paid Plan, keep in mind that the cheque deposit fee doesn't count towards your free transfers.
* Fees are automatically deducted. You’ll see the total amount of your cheque deposit on your timeline, and the deducted fee – in the transaction details.

If your check is rejected, we’ll send an email – to the address linked to your Tide account – to explain why, and give you the next steps.
Common some reasons why your cheque may be rejected is that it's:
Issued in a different name or an unverified trading name
Incomplete, unsigned, or contains mismatching information
Smudged, faded, folded, torn, or crinkled
Older than 6 months – contact the person writing the cheque to issue a replacement
