What is a TIN? (Tax Identification Number)

A TIN is a unique combination of letters and/or numbers assigned by tax authorities to identify individuals and entities for tax purposes. You will normally find it on any letters or correspondence you receive from your tax authority (the relevant tax authority in the jurisdiction(s) in which you are a tax resident). Some authorities do not issue a TIN, however, they will often use a similar type of number which can be known by a different name e.g.:Full Switch Out, we will move all of your payment arrangements over to your new provider. This includes your list of payees, your standing orders and direct debits.

Your new provider will request us to transfer your entire account balance to them before the switch is complete. All payments made to your closed Tide account will be forwarded to your new provider.

  • Unique Tax Reference (UTR) in the UK;

  • Social Security Number (SSN) for individuals and the Employer Identification Number (EIN) for most entities in the US;

  • SIREN in France; or

  • NIP/PESEL in Poland.

The OECD website can be consulted for further details about the TIN or its equivalent.

If you choose a Partial Switch Out, you'll be able to choose which direct debits and standing orders to move to your new provider.

Your new provider will not request the closure of your Tide account. They will also not ask for your Tide account balance to be transferred to them.

Payments sent to your Tide account will not be forwarded to your new provider.
