Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Tide

Tide supports small businesses across different markets, industries, and life situations.

To do that well, we need two things to be true at the same time. We need to understand the people we serve. And we need to build an environment where our own people can do their best work.

Diversity, equity and inclusion connect both. They shape how we build our products, how we grow our business, and how people experience working at Tide.

Our commitment

We are building a company where:

  • People from different backgrounds can contribute and grow

  • Decisions are fair, consistent, and transparent

  • Different perspectives are expected and valued

  • Everyone has a real sense of belonging

This applies both to our teams and to the businesses we support.

Supporting a more inclusive business landscape

We use our platform to help more people start and grow their businesses, especially where barriers still exist.

Women in business

Women remain underrepresented in entrepreneurship and continue to face challenges around funding, confidence, and access to networks.

Tide’s approach combines data, partnerships, and practical support:

✅ We have crossed our 200,000th female-led business target - representing 25% of our total UK membership and almost two years ahead of our 2027 schedule - cementing Tide’s position as the home of female entrepreneurship in the UK.

✅ The Female Business Owners Index, helping us understand real challenges and track progress.

✅ Partnerships with organisations such as with allbright-Everywoman and with Mastercard Strive that help support and empower female entrepreneurs.

✅ Ongoing visibility and support for female founders within our member base.

This work expands access to entrepreneurship while strengthening the ecosystem our members operate in.

Building products that work for more people

We use data and member insight to understand where friction exists and how to remove it.

That includes:

  • Simplifying financial tools so they are easier to use

  • Making funding and financial services more accessible

  • Providing guidance and education where it has the most impact

The goal is to enable more businesses to start, operate, and grow with fewer barriers.

Inside Tide

Within Tide we recognise that people bring different backgrounds, experiences, and needs. We support this through fair opportunities, meaningful development, flexible ways of working, and inclusive leadership.

Fair access to opportunity

Clear, structured hiring and promotion processes designed to support consistent and informed decisions.

Growth and development

Growth at Tide is based on measurable impact. We are equally committed to making sure every Tidean, regardless of background or circumstance, has fair access to the support, visibility, and opportunities needed to progress.

Flexible ways of working

Through Work Your Way, people have the flexibility to manage where and how they work, while staying accountable for their impact.

Leadership responsibility

Leaders are expected to create team environments where people can contribute, challenge ideas, and be heard.

Transparency and accountability

We believe progress requires visibility, and we report openly on our diversity, representation, and pay gap data.

Our latest reporting covers representation and pay across gender and ethnicity. It highlights a gap that is largely driven by representation at different levels of the organisation, particularly in more senior roles. This reflects a pattern seen across the fintech and technology sectors.

We continue to see progress in how our teams are built and developed, and we are focused on:

  • Improving representation across senior roles

  • Strengthening progression and development pathways

  • Maintaining fair and consistent hiring and promotion practices

  • We build better products by understanding more perspectives

  • We make stronger decisions with broader input

  • We support a wider range of entrepreneurs

  • We create an environment where people can do their best work
