Tide Workforce helps you manage freelancers and contractors in one place – currently for free.

With Workforce, you can:

  • Pay freelancers, gig workers, and contractors for their services

  • Cover their work-related expenses (e.g., meals, travel, phone bills)

  • Soon, manage invoices and schedules directly from your dashboard

Everything is handled on Tide on the Web, giving you fewer admin tasks, more control, and time back in your day.

Important: Workforce isn’t designed for employee payroll under IR35.

Right now, you can invite your freelancers or contractors to open a Tide Business Current Account and pay them directly via your Workforce dashboard. Invoice and scheduling tools are coming soon.

How do I sign up for Tide Workforce?  Tap Support in the app to open a chat and we’ll help you with this.

Log in to Tide on the Web and:

  1. Go to Workforce > Send Invite

  2. Copy your Referral Code and follow the steps from there

  3. Use the Share button to send the code with your freelancers via email, WhatsApp, or text. 

When they sign up using the Referral and their Tide Business Current Account is approved, they’ll appear on the main page of Workforce – your dashboard.

If someone you invited doesn’t appear, they may have skipped entering your referral code. Contact your Partnerships Manager with their name and number or tap Support in the app, and we’ll help you.

To remove a freelancer or a contractor from your list, please ask your Partnerships Manager to make the change for you. Soon you’ll be able to easily do this, straight from Tide on the web.

Before you can start making payments to a freelancer or a contractor, you’ll need to approve them as a payee in your Tide app. Once you’ve done this, log in to Tide on the Web and:

  1. Go to Workforce > Payments > Payout

  2. Select the person you’d like to pay and click Next

  3. Enter the amount and payment reference, then click Next again

  4. Approve the payment in your Tide app

Payments usually arrive within a few minutes. 

Your business name will appear on the freelancer’s bank statement for all payments sent via Tide Workforce.

I’ve sent a payment to the wrong person – what should I do? Once you send a payment to a freelancer’s Tide account, it can’t be reversed. If you need the money returned, you’ll need to contact them directly.

To avoid sending money to the wrong account, always double-check the recipient’s email address and phone number before confirming a payment.
