Getting started with your Tide Business Insurance

Now you can protect your business with Tide Insurance. It'll help you meet legal requirements, cover client interactions, and safeguard your professional advice and services.

Your insurance documents

Your insurance documents

When your policy is issued, you'll get these documents:

  • Policy Schedule

  • Statement of Fact

  • Employers’ Liability Certificate (if purchased)

  • Policy Wording

  • Payment Schedule

  • Terms of Business

View and download your documents

  1. In your Tide app tap: Finance > Insurance

  2. Select a policy and you’ll see its documents in the lower part of your screen

  3. Tap on a document to view or download it on your device

Your policy payments

🔵Billing cycle:

Policies run annually, but are paid in 12 monthly instalments – for your convenience. We collect all instalments automatically, from your main Tide account.

  • The first instalment is on the day you purchase and may slightly differ in price from your subsequent payments

  • Subsequent payments run each month, 7 days before the start date of your policy cover month

So, if you purchase insurance on 1 May for coverage starting 15 May, your first payment will be on 1 May, and the rest – on the 9th of each following month.

🔵Important:

All policies are set to auto-renew at the end of the annual term.

We’ll send your renewal documents and confirm your renewal price 30 days before your policy renews.

If you don’t want your policy to auto-renew, tap Support in your app to let us know, any time before the new cover period begins.

🔵If a payment fails

If there’s not enough funds in your Tide account, we’ll email you to let you know. After this: 

  • We’ll keep trying to collect the payment up to and including the start date of your next policy cover month

  • If we still can’t collect the payment by this date, your policy will be cancelled with immediate effect, and we’ll email you to confirm this

Change your policy

Change your policy

You can adjust your insurance mid-term – after it has started but before it renews.

  • You can update your business details, such as: your address, number of employees and cover level

  • Some adjustments may result in a change to your premium price – if this is the case, you’ll see it on the screen before you confirm the change. Your monthly premium will update automatically

To amend your policy straight from the app:

  1. Tap Finance > Insurance > select the policy > Amend

  2. You'll be redirected to the in-app chat, and we’ll guide you from there

Claims are handled by Admiral and you’ll need to contact them directly. See how to report your claim over on their website.

A reminder about excess per claim

‘Insurance excess’ is the pre-agreed amount your business must pay towards the cost of a claim. If your claim is upheld, our insurance partner will take care of the remaining amount, up to the cover limit – subject to the policy Terms & Conditions.

Add your existing policies

Add your existing policies

For extra convenience, you can add any insurance policy you hold with another insurer to your Insurance Dashboard in the app:

  • Keep track of all your business policies in one place

  • Get reminders 45 days before policy renewal dates

To add a policy, tap:

  1. Finance > Insurance > Add existing policy

  2. Fill out the details > Submit, and you’re ready

Cancel your Tide Insurance policy

Cancel your Tide Insurance policy

You can cancel your policy at any time in your Tide app, tap:

  1. Finance > Insurance

  2. Select the policy, then tap Cancel Policy

  3. Select a reason for cancellation > Confirm

The cancellation will become effective at the end of the pre-paid month. At the moment, we don’t offer full or partial refunds. After you cancel, we’ll email you a link to safely download your documents for your records.

Closing your Tide Account?

When you close your account, your Tide Insurance policy will be cancelled at the end of the pre-paid month and won’t renew.

We won’t charge you a cancellation fee. Your cover will continue until the end of the current pre-paid month. After you cancel, we’ll email you a link to safely download your documents for your records.
