What is an online debit card, and how can I get one?

An online debit card is non-physical, used for online payments only. The card has unique details, including a 16-digit card number that’s different to your physical card. It’s currently only available to members who have ClearBank accounts.

An online debit card shares your transaction limits with your physical Tide card, and if you’re on our Max plan, you’ll earn cashback on it too. To see your EUR SEPA details, go to the 'Payments' tab > tap 'Details' next to your main account > 'EUR SEPA'. Then, tap 'Share' to share them with your payors from SEPA countries and receive payments from them.

To request an online debit card, you must own a physical Tide card first. Your Tide card must be in an ‘active’, ‘cancelled’ or ‘expired status’. If it’s still in an ‘issued’ status, you won’t see the option to get an online debit card.

To order an online debit card from the Tide app, go to: ‘Cards’ > ‘ Get the online tools your business needs’.

You can receive international payments in GBP via SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) too.

To do this, you’ll need your SWIFT account details. You can find these in your app by tapping the ‘Payments’ tab > ‘Details’ next to your main account > ‘SWIFT’. Then tap ‘Share’ to send your details to your payors.

We will charge you 20p per payment. If you’re using one of our paid plans, we’ll start charging the 20p fee after you’ve gone over your monthly free transactions limit.

You can’t send payments via SWIFT but we will let you know if we make this possible in the future.
