Ever wondered, 'Why is my business credit score so important?'

Well, to start, your business credit score is a number, usually out of 100, that represents how well your business is managing its credit and debit.

Credit scores are assessed by Credit Reference Agencies (ie. Experian and Equifax) and it's their responsibility to determine your credit score.

The business credit score is also used to assess the risk of lending your business credit. If your credit score is:

  • Closer to 100 – the low risk range. Lenders are more likely to approve loans and other credit products, and with lower interest rates

  • Nearer 0 – the higher risk range. Available funding may come with higher interest rates and could cost your business more

Keep in mind that your business credit score is publicly available. Anyone can check your score with Credit Reference Agencies, before deciding to partner with you.

Activate your Credit Score Insights

Here's how you can start using your Credit Score Insights. In your app, tap:

  • Accounts > your initials in the top-left > Memberships > under Add-ons, select View > Credit Score Insights

You can activate, cancel and reactivate your subscription at any time through your app. While your subscription is active, you’ll always have access to your business credit score.

Use your Credit Score Insights

Right after you activate your Credit Score Insights, you can view your dashboard. In your app, tap Finance > Credit Score Insights > View dashboard to see:

  • Credit score* – regularly updated, usually every 30 days**. You'll also receive in-app notifications of how your score changes

  • Credit insights – educational tips that are regularly updated, usually every 30 days**

  • Credit offers from Tide

  • Knowledge hub – helping you understand the importance of (and how to build) your business credit score

*We cannot guarantee the accuracy of the score as it's compiled and obtained by third parties.

**Note that the time it takes for your business credit score to update may vary slightly depending on our data feed from CreditSafe. The app will show your updated score as soon as we receive it.

Change your Credit Score Insights subscription

Credit Score Insights costs just £4.99 per month, and there are no additional fees or interest payments. It is included in your Tide Max paid plan at no extra costs.

We’ll collect the fee as soon as you sign up, and then at the beginning of each month, until you cancel your subscription. To change your subscription, tap:

  • Finance > Credit Score Insights > View Dashboard > the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen

Cancelling your Credit Score Insights

If you’re unable to pay your monthly fee, you can cancel your Credit Score Insights subscription before the next monthly payment is due. We’ll stop your access to the feature after the period you’ve already paid for ends.

  • If you cancel before the end of the calendar month we’ll still charge you subscription fees in full for that month

  • There will be no pro-rata refund of subscription fees in case of early cancellation

  • You can renew your subscription at any time if you choose

Credit Score Insights is designed to provide access to insights and tips that you can use yourself to help influence your business credit score but it cannot guarantee an improvement or accuracy of your score.
