How to set up and manage your Xero Connector

Xero Connector allows you to seamlessly send your Tide transactions to your Xero software, making Bookkeeping easier and more accurate.

When you add Xero Connector to your Tide account, you’ll need to complete the simple steps below to set it up.

You can then manage your Xero Connector through your Tide app.

Setting up your Xero Connector

Step 1: Find Xero Connector in-app

  1. Update your Tide app to the latest version 

  2. Log into your Tide app

  3. Go to the Admin tab and tap All Actions

  4. Tap Accounting integrations and you'll see your existing Xero integration

Step 2: Map your categories

When you make or receive a payment, or send an invoice, you can map which category this payment or invoice belongs to, such as ‘Income’. 

This tells Xero Connector how to automatically categorise your Tide transactions when you sync them into your Xero accounts, so you can do 1 click reconciliation in Xero.

Your mapping here will overwrite existing bank categorisation rules you've set up in Xero.

  1. Tap Map categories on the Xero Connector screen

  2. You’ll then see a suggestion of how your categories are mapped

  3. You can change any suggestion by tapping on the category and selecting a different Xero account to match it to.

  4. You can leave a category without a mapping. Tide transactions with this category won't be automatically mapped to your Xero account, so you’ll need to manually reconcile or set up rules in Xero for them.

  5. Once you’re happy with your mapping, tap Save mapping

Managing your Xero Connector

How to update your category mapping

If you’d like to change your category mapping, you can do this anytime through your Tide app.

Tap Xero Connector > Edit category mapping and then select your new mapping.

This new mapping will then apply to all data synced after this point.

How to update your synced accounts and data

You can change your synced accounts anytime through your Tide app.

Tap Xero Connector > Manage next to Active Connections and then select which accounts you’d like to sync, and which data you’d like to sync.

How to manage your Xero Connector subscription

You will be billed £6.99 + VAT for your subscription on the 1st of each month. If you sign up to Xero Connector mid-month, you’ll pay a pro-rata fee on the 1st of the next month for your use.

If you’d like to cancel your Xero Connector subscription, tap Manage > Cancel subscription.

This will immediately stop your enhanced sync, meaning your detailed transaction mapping and related data will stop syncing with Xero.

Your connection between your Tide account and Xero account will remain, but only basic data will be synced.
