Your Tide Accounting tool gives you everything you need to manage your bookkeeping, understand your business performance and sort your taxes.

Manage your bookkeeping

Bookkeeping is the process of categorising your transactions, so you pay the correct amount of tax for them.

  1. Go to the Admin tab

  2. Use the icons at the top of the tab to tap Bookkeeping

Here you'll see your transactions, their categories, and any transactions you have left to categorise.

Understand your business

With Insights, you’ll be able to see your cashflow, profit, revenue and expenses in real time. Just make sure your bookkeeping is accurate and up to date.

  1. From the Admin screen, using the icons at the top, tap Insights

  2. Tap View details next to the data you want to learn more about

Sort your taxes

You can see your real time amounts for the tax you owe in your tax dashboard. Just make sure your bookkeeping is accurate and up to date.

  1. Go to the Admin tab

  2. Use the icons at the top to tap Taxes

From here you'll be able to access your Self Assessment and Corporation Tax, your VAT manager, and your Tax Account.

Self Assessment & Corporation tax

In your tax dashboard, Sole traders will see their Self Assessment tax estimate, and registered businesses will see their Corporation tax tax estimate.

  1. Tap Admin > Taxes

  2. View breakdown

  3. See how much you owe

Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Sole Traders

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is a regulatory change that affects Sole Traders (and Landlords). With MTD you'll have to keep digital records and submit your Income Tax Self-Assessment (ITSA) online to HMRC.

VAT Manager

If you're VAT registered, your tax dashboard will also show you your VAT Manager tool.

  1. Tap Connect to HMRC to set up your VAT Manager

  2. Tap View all to see the VAT you owe, which updates automatically as you complete your bookkeeping

  3. Tap Submit on desktop to be directed to Tide on the web, where you can submit your VAT to HMRC

Your Tax Account

Save for your tax bill with your dedicated Tax Account.

  1. Tap Open a Tide Tax Account to get started

  2. Choose your tax target, either based on your Self Assessment tax estimate or a custom one

  3. Tap Deposit to move money from your Tide account to your Tax Account

  4. Tap Pay HMRC to pay HMRC directly

Add your accountant to your account

Add your accountant to your account

You can add your account to your account, so they can manage your bookkeeping, understand your financial data, and submit your taxes returns through your app.

  1. From the Admin screen tap More actions

  2. Tap Invite your accountant and follow the onscreen instructions
