Yes, Tide allows you to pay monthly and cancel your annual policy at any time, giving you flexible control over your coverage.

Yes, you need to open a Tide business account to access and purchase a business insurance policy through the app.

Yes, generally business insurance is tax-deductible in the UK, meaning the cost of your premiums will be subtracted before calculating your taxable profit. They’ll be classed as an “allowable expense” if they’re used wholly and exclusively for business purposes.

This will look differently depending on the structure of your business:

  • Limited companies will pay less corporation tax

  • Sole traders can deduct the expenses before calculating their income tax through Self Assessment

Tide Insurance Services Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN: 1040067).

There’s only one type of business insurance that’s legally required as a small business which is employers’ liability (EL) insurance - this law applies to any business that employs staff.

You’ll also find that, in some situations, you’re required to have public liability insurance which acts as additional reassurance.

It’s not always a legal requirement (unless you employ other people), but it’s recommended to protect against third-party claims and any legal fees or compensation payouts.

Unless you have employees, it’s not a legal requirement. But if you’re running an online business from home, your standard home insurance might not cover your business assets. So having insurance for your online business can help protect against risks like damaged equipment or stock, late payments and cyberattacks.

Yes, because the legal structure of your business will change. You may need to cancel your existing policy and start a new one, which could affect your premium.
