Ahead of the festive season, we’re encouraging everyone to shop small – and what better way to do so than with our Gift Guide 2025 edition! With a wide range of members across the UK from sweet hampers to skincare, we’ve got you covered.

In this Member Spotlight series, we’d like to introduce you to the brilliant minds behind the Gift Guide. Meet Soumya, founder of Mytri Designs.

Hi! Can you tell us about your business and why you started?

Mytri is a UK-based store, specialising in handcrafted, sustainably made home décor and wellness gifts inspired by mindful living.

I started the business because I wanted to create meaningful products that bring calm, beauty, and connection into everyday spaces. With so many mass-produced items on the market, I felt there was space for gifts that tell a story, support artisans, and help people live more intentionally.

What makes your product the perfect gift for the holiday season?

Our products are designed to be thoughtful, practical, and timeless. From hand- painted tiffins and handmade distressed mirrors, to Ayurveda-inspired gift sets, each item is carefully crafted by skilled artisans and made using ethical practices.

They’re not only unique and sustainable but also carry the warmth of something truly handmade, making them a meaningful choice for anyone looking to give a gift that lasts beyond the season!

What do you love most about running your company?

I love the creativity and freedom that come with running Mytrii. Developing new product collections each year is both challenging and fulfilling, as it brings together the vision of our designers and the craftsmanship of our artisans. Hearing from customers about how our pieces make their homes feel calmer, or how a gift has brightened someone’s day, is the most rewarding part of all.

How do you prepare for the festive season ahead and what advice would you give to other small business owners?

Preparation begins months in advance, with careful planning of stock, along with the design of seasonal collections and campaigns. I also focus on storytelling – sharing the meaning behind each product, so customers can connect emotionally with what they’re buying. My advice for other small business owners is to plan early, stay organised, and remember that your authenticity is your biggest strength during the busiest season.

How has Tide helped you to run your business and what has been your favourite feature?

Tide has been a game-changer by simplifying finances and saving time. The instant notifications, easy invoicing, and ability to categorise expenses help me stay on top of cash flow, especially during peak seasons.

My favourite feature is the integration with accounting tools – it keeps everything streamlined, so I can spend more time focusing on my customers and products.

What’s the biggest challenge for your business at the moment?

The biggest challenge is balancing growth with sustainability. As demand increases, it’s important for me to scale while staying true to my values of handcrafted quality and eco-friendly practices. Managing supply chains, especially with artisanal and natural materials, requires constant care and flexibility.

What’s one tip you would give to people who want to start their own business?

Start small, stay consistent, and don’t wait for perfection. The most important thing is to begin – your brand, products, and processes will evolve as you learn. And always remember why you started! That clarity will guide you through the challenges.
